Trier – the oldest city in Germany – UNESCO world heritage

The journey there leads us through the Mosel valley with its quaint wine villages to the oldest city in Germany – the more than 2000-year-old Roman city of Trier. Worldfamous for its Roman buildings, many of them being UNESCO world heritage sights.

Included in the grand tour are the Amphitheatre (built for up to 18.000 spectators), the Imperial baths, the Barbara baths (the largest Roman baths north of the Alps), the Constantine Basilica (the worldwide largest preserved single room from ancient times), the Porta Nigra (one of the best preserved Roman gates), the Benedictine Abbey St. Matthew with the tomb of apostle Matthew and the old Roman bridge (the oldest bridge in Germany).

After the tour you will have time to spend on your own to visit the sights from inside. The old town awaits with further highlights such as the Trier cathedral (Germany´s oldest episcopal church) containing the holy robe of Jesus, the main market square, the Steipe (a 15th century building), the Franconian Tower or the Karl-Marx-House.

Enjoy the Mosel-Franconian charm of the city and one of the nicest pedestrian areas in Germany!
